The road is closed to traffic during the afternoon

No cars are allowed in Tong Choi Street, the Ladies Market in Mongkok, from 4PM until midnight on most days and from noon until midnight on Sundays and bank holidays.

In practice though it is impossible to go down the street except for a narrow lane in the centre from about 11am most days.

They do ensure that there is just enough room for a fire engine to go down the road in between the market stalls at all times though.  In the past there have been fires here and so everybody makes sure that fire services will not have any difficulty getting to any part of the street.
